An introduction to handball

Handball is one of the fastest growing indoor sports in England. It’s fast-paced, high scoring and energetic, making it a game that children of all ages love to play, which is one reason why teaching handball in schools is becoming ever more popular.

Handball can be played in lots of different settings – from playgrounds to gym halls, sandy beaches to grass parks – and it’s also one of the most diverse sports in the country, attracting players from more than 60 different nationalities. It’s a sport with the power to bring young people and local communities together.

Across England, thousands of schools are already involved in handball sessions, playing games and introducing handball skills and techniques, many with the help of England Handball – the official governing body for the sport. Your school could also be benefitting from everything the game of handball has to offer, whether that’s teaching handball in PE sessions or running a handball after school club.
